In March 2017 the DWP changed the rules so that people who find it hard to make journeys because of mental health problems would be entitled to less benefit than people who find it hard for other reasons. In December 2017 the courts said this was unlawful. The Home Office’s “deport first, appeal later” policy for removing foreign criminals has been ruled unlawful by the supreme court. More than 1,100 foreign criminals have been removed from Britain under the system, which was introduced in July 2014. It was a Conservative manifesto pledge and denies foreign criminals the right to launch an appeal against deportation while they are in the country. Click here for full story..
